I lead design on the new IBM SPSS Decision Management suite of applications.
This is a set of configurable web-based applications that bring predictive analytics to business users. My task was to design a front-end that would allow non-expert users to take advantage of data analysis tools available on IBM SPSS Modeler Server, combine them with business rules, and deploy the resulting outcome-based models into the business.
As lead designer, I was responsible for all interactions, prototyping and graphical work. Coordinated discussions with development teams and guided the design effort of a team of senior designers who followed my lead as I had the most web development experience.
Tasks: Received requirements from Product Management, sketched and then prototyped solutions, and finally wrote specification documents for the Development and Quality Analysis departments to work from to build and test the application respectively.
I also worked on SPSS Statistics and SPSS Modeller (formerly known as Clementine), both statistical analysis and modelling desktop applications.
Methods: Use cases, personas, wireframes, mockups, working prototypes, user interface documentation.
Tools: Fireworks, html, css
